Anna Wallace

Waiheke Flower Farmer
& Floral Artist

“The earth laughs in flowers”
EE Cummings
A love affair with flowers first seeded when Anna Wallace trained as a florist in her 20s, after graduating from university with an English literature degree. “Flowers were always part of the dream. I always wanted a bookshop that had a florist, and cake!”

A few adventures later, which included travelling overseas, working in finance, returning home to New Zealand to marry and have four children AND writing a celebrated children’s book, Juicy The Peach & The Popcorn Palaver, Anna has returned to her beloved blooms.

Living on beautiful Waiheke Island, a brush with serious illness a few years ago spurred her to continue with her floral ambitions. The therapy of planting, tending and nurturing gorgeous blooms on her land helped heal her, and Beeswax Blooms was born.

Anna’s flower farm in the Hauraki Island paradise follows the sustainable slow flowers movement – where seasonal, local flowers are celebrated for being “grown, not flown”.

“It’s about working with nature, rather than against it,” says Anna, who is proud to use organic and natural products on her flowers to be as environmentally-friendly as possible.

Anna specialises in growing gladioli, snapdragons, ranunculus and hydrangeas and spreads her floral joy to many happy customers.
